1. Let our results do the talking

At APEA, we expect each of our team members to bring their expertise and proficiency, their passion and their desire to succeed in their role. We do it in such a way that we deliver what we say we’re going to do, outstandingly.

2. Be passionate and determined

Focus on problems for 10% of the time, and solutions for the other 90%. One of the things that make us so unique is that each of us brings our own passion for results and our determination to succeed. And this is what makes APEA thrive. We don’t take ‘no’ or ‘that’ll never work’ for an answer because if we had, then we would have never started in the first place.

3. Deliver WOW

Doing the job’ is not enough – WOW matters. At APEA, anything worth doing is worth doing with WOW. WOW is the ripple effect that we create on a daily basis to deliver an emotional impact to our receivers. We WOW because it results in word-of-mouth and it keeps our community excited about their own dreams, not just our own.

4. Take responsibility

Remember that the gap between what you SAY you want and what you ACTUALLY want to achieve is the discipline to act consistently until it’s done. To succeed in our role, we take 100% responsibility for both our results and non-results. We believe that we are in control of and we influence the outcomes of our decisions. Every member of APEA welcomes responsibility because it is a measure of how we are progressing individually and as an Institute.

5. Create fun with a little bit of quirk

We stand out from our competitors in our value to bring uniqueness by laughing, taking ourselves lightly, and to approach things in quirky ways. This means we can express our individuality freely. We can express our personality in our work. To outsiders, that may come across as inconsistent or weird, but the consistency lies in our belief that we function best when we can be ourselves.

6. Bring out of the box thinking with a sense of adventure

“If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." It's important to get others involved. John Maxwell, in his book called ‘Thinking for a Change’, uses the illustration that you can have one idea, but when you engage someone else you will get a few more ideas, and if you engage a group of people you can get several ideas. The synergy of the group will cause that one great idea emerge. There are many ways to gain positive input from other people. Great ideas, as we can see, come from engaging others.

7. Embrace and drive innovations and improvements

Challenge the status quo often – you are here to help us all to improve, and we have no interest in ‘doing what we’ve always done’ when there is a better way. Through innovation and iteration, we aim to take things that work well and improve upon them in unexpected ways.

8. Bring an insatiable hunger to learn and grow

We are interested in keeping up with new developments and knowledge in the field. We believe that if we want to continue leading the industry, we must continually embrace changes. We bring on board those with an expertise at learning, adapting and figuring new things out because in the process of helping our company grow, they will also be growing themselves. At APEA, we believe that inside every team member is more potential than even they themselves realise. Our joint effort as a team then is to unlock that potential.

9. Model Excellence - ask questions every single day

We ask the question “How do you do that?”. At APEA, we don’t do the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome. We believe in finding where excellence lies, seek that wisdom, and apply it in our own endeavours and in the work that we produce.

10. Build a positive team spirit

Think of the team before you think of yourself. At APEA, we put lots of emphasis on our culture and our people because we want it to be the place people want to be. We are more than just a team – we are a family. We work together and we also play together. Our bonds go far beyond the typical “co-worker” relationships found at most other Institutes. Because we are such a diverse Institute, we embrace similarities and differences in thoughts, opinions and backgrounds, and this is the positive impact we make on the Institute – great communication.


We are a culture that encourages individual expression, that discourages judgement or criticism, but will say it ‘how it is’ to help someone. We are not into ‘positive thinking’, but real living.
